Read the scripture and meditate!

“One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination” (Proverbs 28:9).

Today, many people do not read the Scripture though they pray. They do attend the church services on Sundays but they do not take the Bible with them. They will request others to pray for them saying that they intend to begin a new business venture or for their marriage but they will not pray for these things. They do not pay heed to what the Scripture says.

It is God who listens to your prayer has graciously given you the Scripture. The Scripture has not been written by any philosopher but God Himself has enlightened you over His glories through the Scripture. If you ignore these words of life and spirit, He will also ignore you. Is it not? God says sadly, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children (Hosea 4:6).

In order to make this Bible available in your hands, so many saints have sacrificed their lives. They have toiled day and night to translate it. They spent crores of Rupees and set up many Bible Societies so that the Bible could reach your hands.
Of all other books, the Bible alone has been written by our Heavenly Father and given to the mankind as a gift. Books of Mythology alone are placed as holy books in all other religions. All those books hold morals which have come out of a man’s imaginations. But in this book of Bible, the Spirit of God is there; His life is there. So the verses of the Bible give lives to the souls. So, God sends the Scripture and heals.

A revival arose in the reading of the Scripture in the times of Jeremiah. “And they stood up in their place and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God for one-fourth of the day; and for another fourth, they confessed and worshipped the Lord their God” (Nehemiah 9:3)

Good promises have been given in the first Psalm. It says, “But his delight is in the law of the Lord and in His law, he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper” (Psalms 1:2, 3).

Dear children of God, Is the Bible joyous to you? Do you read and meditate it? Have you felt that the Scripture is your Spiritual food and the pure milk to the babies?

To meditate: “… we also thank God without ceasing, because ….. as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe” (I Thessalonians 2:13).
