“Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).
If at all there is a worst spirit among all the spirits sent by satan, it is the spirit of the lust. It guides one into masturbation, prostitution and harlotry. These lusts enter into man and begin to command. He acts like street dogs to fulfil these lusts. It brings man into bondage and makes him go astray from God.
Many prominent and strong personalities have fallen because of such spirit of lusts. It made Samson who had been filled with the strength of the Holy Spirit to fall. It also brought Solomon who had been filled with wisdom into bondage. The spirits of Jezebel induce some people to involve in harlotry.
Cautioning the church in Thyatira Jesus said, “Nevertheless I have a few things against you because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce my servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols” (Revelation 2:20).
If you want to escape from these spirits, you will have to combine yourself with the Cross of Calvary. “And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires” (Galatians 5:24). The place where Jesus Christ was crucified is called as Golgotha, Calvary and Mountain of the skull. Head is the part into which these spirits enter and from there they make an inroad into the thoughts.
Today, many contaminants, lusts and nude pictures are exposed through computers and not only the youth but also the elders fall prey to them. The letters in the computer, ‘www’ are in the shape of a serpent and the expansion is ‘World Wide Web.’
This is nothing but a net thrown world vide by the spider which is satan to capture the pushovers. Many people indulge in these dirty activities after their family members go to sleep. The spirits of lusts in them enter into their heads. Slowly it becomes a habit and they are pushed into a stage where they become a slave to it.
As the end approaches, satan understands that time left is short and so has launched the spirits of lust, prostitution and harlotry. Paul the Apostle writes as advice “…..and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26)
To meditate: “Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (II Timothy 2:22).
