“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).
In this verse it has not been written as ‘will bless’ or ‘is blessing’ but it is given as ‘has blessed.’ Paul the Apostle points out the great blessings which God had determined for you. Of these blessings, some have been kept by God right from the foundation of the world. Some have been given by God during the time of creation. But we receive the most glorious blessings through His sacrifice on the cross of Calvary.
God gives us four kinds of blessings. (1) Wealthy and influential which are worldly (2) Spiritual blessings (3) Heavenly blessings and (4) Eternal blessings. Yes. Dear children of God, He has blessed you with all heavenly spiritual blessings. May He bless you more!
When God blessed the descendant of Abraham, He blessed saying like ‘the dust of the world’ and ‘sand of the sea’ which are worldly. But at the same time, He blessed eternally saying ‘like the stars of the heaven.’ This blessing is the one which converts one earthly being into a heavenly being. A blessing which makes one glitter always, like the stars.
Through Jesus Christ who is the son of Abraham (Mathew 1:1), this promise was fulfilled. He alone is the ladder through which one can climb to the heaven from earth. He is the entrance to the Heavenly Kingdom. No one comes to the Father except through Him. “…..that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Galatians 3:14).
Promises were made to Abraham and his descendants. “Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ” (Galatians 3:16). But Jesus Christ shines like a bright and Morning Star among other stars. (Revelation 22:16). Dear children of God, He alone takes you to the Heavenly Kingdom.
From the days of Adam to that of Abraham, what prevailed was that ‘For dust you are and to dust, you shall return’. But in Abraham, the situation changed and one who belonged to the dust was promised to become a shining heavenly star. That promise was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. May He bless you with all the heavenly blessings!
To meditate: “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever” (Daniel 12:3).
