“…..knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing” (I Peter 3:9).
First of all, you have to understand very clearly that you have been called to inherit the blessing. Secondly, you have to wholeheartedly bless so that they too inherit the blessing. God called Abraham and said, “I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you” (Genesis 12:2, 3).
Once, a person came to a servant of God and said “Sir, there has been a huge loss in my business. Though I have worked hard to improve it, there is no result. Why there is no blessing for me?” In reply, the servant of God said “brother, from today onwards, begin to bless others. Whenever you meet the servants of God, tell from the bottom of your heart that ‘Lord, bless them. I too bless them’. After a few days when they met again, the person happily said the servant of God “Pastor, I followed your advice. Today God has blessed me immensely.”
When you bless others, do not stop with mere words. Honour them with physical and financial support. Help the poor generously. Let the springs of love be secreting from your heart always. “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me. And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward” (Mathew 25:40, 10:42).
“Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38). Not only that. Love God immeasurably and always give top priority to God. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Mathew 6:33).
Whatever you do, place God in front of you, offering all importance to Him and honour and glorify Him. Then you will definitely see the blessing coming to you wholly and in an overflowing manner. Dear children of God, you will be blessed definitely. God will open you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.
To meditate: “I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken” (Isaiah 58:14).
