“Lord Jesus Christ has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).
The worldly blessings alone were of great value to the saints of the Old Testament. Increase in cattle, wine and farming fields were such blessings. But for us, the children of God, the Spiritual blessings are much greater.
When Jesus was leaving this world, He lifted His hands and blessed His disciples. I believe He should have kept on blessing them for a long duration. Even while the clouds surrounded and He was taken up to the heaven, He went in the same posture of blessing.
He, who went up to the heaven in the blessing posture, poured the grace of the Holy Spirit immeasurably on His children. God promised the blessing of the strength of the high, and all those who were waiting for it were filled with the Holy Spirit. In response to the grace given by God, they rejoiced and talked in tongues.
Did that blessing of the highest end with that? No. Following that anointment, all the gifts of the Spirit began to function in them. All the gifts of speaking in tongue, the gifts of interpreting the tongues, gifts of prophecy, gifts of analytical power over spirits, gifts which reveal wisdom, gifts which indicate knowledge, gifts of the power of healing, gifts of doing miracles and gifts of faith functioned in them.
Did gifts alone were found in them? The fruits of the Holy Spirit also formed in them. All the fruits of the Spirit namely love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control came into them. Oh! How great are these blessings of the high!
Another greater thing is that the Lord’s Kingdom is installed in you through the Holy Spirit. “For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17)
Dear children of God, you are lovingly called by God to receive all these blessings. They are all given free of cost to you. What you need for all these blessings to be poured on you is a cleansed heart. Not only that. You should also possess the thirst for it from the bottom of your heart. Another great blessing which God intends to give you is the eternal life. With that eternal life, you enter the Kingdom of God which is Indestructible forever and ever. Since God has given you that eternal life when the trumpet sounds, you will also meet the Lord in the air. Hallelujah!
To meditate: “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with me on my throne” (Revelation 3:21).
