“Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Mathew 25:34).
A church experienced great Revival and the believers were happy and peaceful. They not only participated as families in the worships but also were in possession of great enthusiasm and broad face to do something for God. Even the youth and the children were anointed and were toiling for God.
I met the pastor of that church and inquired about the secret behind the revival. He said, “I, along with my wife, used to pray together earnestly for our family and the church. We will be pleading to God to bless our family and to give us the sense of oneness and the anointment of love. When two persons pray with one accord, the Heavenly Father will make things done. Is it not?”
It is better for you to pray in accord with your life partner than with others. The reason is that the husband and wife remain one flesh and one family. Their goal will be the same and will find sufficient time for prayer. If you want your family and the church to be blessed, pray in unison as husband and wife.
Never make others pray out of compulsion. The prayer which is inspired by love, alone is most powerful. “Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honour to the wife, as to the weaker vessel and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered” (I Peter 3:7).
God has given the responsibility of your family in your hands only. Do not be casual towards this responsibility because it is you who will be made accountable by God for your children. Several husbands do not concentrate on the Spiritual life of their children. Some people make their children stay with their grandparents. Because of this, the children are facing several problems when they attain the youth stage.
Husband and wives should pray saying the names of their children. Plead with God for Him to fill your children with Spirit of wisdom. One mother said, “When my children appear for the examinations, I will be fasting and praying the entire duration of the examinations. That made my children study well and rise to great positions. When pleaded with the promise that ‘you will not be made the tail but the head and you shall be above only and not be beneath’ the children will be blessed spiritually too.
To meditate: “As for you, you shall keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations” (Genesis 17:9).
