blessing from the face!

“God be merciful to us and bless us and cause His face to shine upon us” (Psalm 67:1).

Is there anyone who does not crave for the blessings? The dry land craves for the rain. The children crave for the love of the parents. The servants long for the appreciation of the masters. The mankind is longing for the blessings of God. Above all, God eagerly expects you to seek His face.

Jacob is the forefather who sought the face of God. “So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face and yet my life was spared” (Genesis 32:30, 31). Jacob saw the face of God and so received the new name. He also received new boldness and the strength to face his brother Esau. Jacob now turned into Israelite.

The sun rose in a new way in his life. “The day breaks”. The worldly blessings of wealth, name and fame will vanish after death. But the blessings of the Lord will follow you eternally. Jacob who saw the face of God told: “I will not let you go unless you bless me!” (Genesis 32:26, 29)

When Abraham Lincoln was a boy, his mother told him, “Son, You have to see the face of God in the early morning every day and only after doing that you can see the face of any man. Only after speaking to God through prayer you can speak to any man”. Abraham Lincoln maintained that habit to the end.
Today, you can search the blessings in many ways. Jacob received the birthright and it is a blessing. He received great blessings from his father Isaac. One night he sent his wife and children across the stream and stayed back alone seeking the face of God. That night, since he was seeking God, he received many eternal blessings.

When the blessed Jacob went to the home of Laban he received wives and children; he also received a lot of livestock and wealth. After he sought the face of God, his enmity over his elder brother Esau vanished and the love prevailed between them. The bitterness turned sweet. The fear of death ran away from him.

Dear children of God, This is the time to seek the face of God. Go to some isolated place to pray and to seek the face of God. Fast for a day or a few days and seek His face. One who created you in the mother’s womb and one who chose us in Him before the foundation of the world will definitely bless you.

To meditate: “The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing” (Psalm 34:10).
