“The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months. And the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and all his household” (II Samuel 6:11).
The people of Israel were blessed with the Ark of the Covenant. The presence of God was with that Arc of the covenant. Whenever they went to the wars, they carried the Ark to the battlefield through the priests. But, when Saul ruled for forty years, he did not show due care to the Ark.
But David highly valued it and wished very much to bring it to the city of David and keep it in the place of worship. But David did not know the ways and means of how to bring it. No other person was entitled to carry the Ark other than those who are dedicated for the same. But David was carrying in a cart of oxen and when they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, the oxen stumbled.
When Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God, he had to die. Seeing this, David was frightened. He thought that he was so severely punished for a small error. Obed-Edom accepted with love to have the Ark in his home. Lord blessed Obed-Edom and his entire household and this was informed to David.
The Bible is with us today just as the Ark of the Covenant was in the days of the Old Testament. It will be a blessing to you if you read the Scripture loving and exalting it. The book of Bible contains 66 books within it. This is a book of Covenant graciously given by the Holy Spirit. The Old Testament is a Covenant made by God with Abraham. The New Testament is a Covenant made by the death of Christ, His Resurrection and His precious blood. Have you made the Covenant with God? Are you guarding the Covenant which is the Bible?
Within the Old Testament’s Arc of the Covenant there were three things. Firstly a pot of manna, secondly Aaron’s staff and thirdly the stone tablet on which the Ten Commandments had been written. These three things hold a Spiritual meaning. These three things should be remembered forever.
After getting delivered from Egypt, when the Israelites were walking in the wilderness, God fed them with manna every day. It was the bread which descended from the heaven. It is a sign of Christ who is the Living Bread and the Scripture. Dear children of God, never forget the one who remembered you in your downtrodden times and fed you with heavenly manna. Read the Scripture and exalt Him.
“Now it was told King David, saying, “The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God” (II Samuel 6:12).
