“If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26).
In some marriages, people will thunderously play drums at the time of tying ‘thali’. If someone sneezes at that time, it will be taken as a bad omen and the marriage would be stopped. In order to douse such inauspicious sounds the drums are played that way.
One sound overcomes the other. The voice of the justice is overcome by the voice of the injustice. The voice of the poor is overcome by the voice of the rich. The voice of an innocent is overcome by the voice of a rowdy. Dear children of God, when God speaks with you ensure that no other noise interferes. Shut the doors of your ears to all other worldly and satanic noises.
At the beginning of 20th century, England built the huge ship called ‘Titanic’. Many wealthy persons travelled in it towards America. Those people were spending their time drinking, frolicking and dancing during the travel. One of the staff members of the ship who was engaged in the front portion of the ship noticed that a huge iceberg was fast approaching. The person was frightened at this and raised his voice to caution the sailor over the endanger lying ahead. But the sailor was in an inebriated condition and the noisy call of SOS did not reach his sense. He was fully drunk and was lying down as though even God could not destroy the ship. This resulted in the death of all the passengers.
That is why we read in Exodus 15:26 as “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God”. Not only listening to God but if you follow all the directions, you will receive many blessings. Firstly, He says, “I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. I am the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26).
He brought all the Israelites who listened to him to Elim. There were twelve springs and seventy palm trees and they camped there near the water” (Exodus 15:27). “Now therefore, amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God; then the Lord will relent concerning the doom that He has pronounced against you” (Jeremiah 26:13).
Dear children of God, will you be eager to meet the Lord, clearing all the sins from you. He will come and talk to you at an unexpected time. He will embrace you with love. He will reveal you all the heavenly secrets.
To meditate: “The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; The Lord is over many waters” (Psalm 29:3).
