“In the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly” (Psalm 5:3).
The blessings of the early morning are numerous. All those who look up to the golden face of the Heavenly Father in the early morning, will definitely be satisfied with the presence of God. Their faces will become radiant and they will never be put to shame. Dear children of God, make it a practice to begin every day in the presence of God. Make it a daily responsibility.
“Those who seek me find me” (Proverbs 8:17). “I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods” (Psalm 63:5). My God, earnestly I seek you. Singing lips (of) my mouth will praise you (Psalm 63:1, 5).
Though David was a king with a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders, every day he ran into the presence of God in the early morning. “I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word” (Psalm 119:147). The prayer of the early morning should not be a hurried one but should be a prayer of waiting and praying.
John Wesley was a renowned servant of God and his mother Susanna Wesley had the habit of beginning the day along with God. Though she had many children, she never missed the Morning Prayer time. Similarly in the afternoon also, she will be locking the door and will be praying for an hour in her room. When she felt God’s presence while carrying out some domestic errand, she will at once cover her head with the veil. Then children would understand that their mother is praying and remain silent.
Today, the people have reached a world of urgency. The moment they wake up from the bed they begin to think and plan their worldly responsibilities one by one. For them, everything is urgent. Even the time for cooking food is saved as people resort to instant food items. They are not willing to pray or to wait in the presence of God or sit silently. Even when they come to church, they prefer only ten minutes message.
After acting so fast in everything, in the end, they will fall sick and will be waiting in the hospital for months together. Those who did not wait for God will be waiting for the doctor for hours. Some will be waiting in the police stations and some in the courts. All their time will be wasted.
To meditate: “those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land” (Psalm 37:9). “Wait for the Lord and he will avenge you” (Proverbs 20:22). “I am the Lord; those who hope in me will not be disappointed” (Isaiah 49:23).
