“So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant” (Joshua 24:13).

You should be blessed, developed and prospered in the concern of God. God not only wanted the Israelites to be freed from Egypt but also giving them Canaan where milk and honey flowed. The Israelites never expected this. Their cry to God was only to get delivered from a slave driver.

They never knew that they have been promised the land of Canaan where milk and honey flowed. They also were not aware that God had entered into a covenant with their forefathers about that land. So, throughout their journey they were murmuring. But God gave them Canaan where milk and honey flowed. They were enjoying the land, on which no one did toil, cities one did not build and eat from vineyards and olive groves which one did not plant.

God did not say “I may give you that land or I will give you that land” but He said “I have given you the land.” He also said you will dwell in the houses which you did not build and enjoy the wealth of the nation”. Yes. All that God wished was that you should be exalted and you should be blessed.

I have a great desire in reading the books of other authors. Pastor Ranjan who is in the USA took me to a huge Christian Book Shop and affectionately asked me to buy whichever book I wanted without minding the cost which he would bear. This has happened not once but whenever I visit the USA he will make this offer and I will be carrying home a big load of books often. God blesses more than all we ask or imagine.

This verse speaks about the richness of God’s glory. He is not only rich in glory but also in rich blood; rich in grace; rich in knowledge; rich in the gifts of the Spirit. He possesses all the riches both for this age and for eternity.

You are the children of the King of kings; the inheritances of the Lord God. You are rich in Jesus Christ. It is to make you rich, he became poor. Where you stand today is not the one to be thought of. Blessings of thousand fold will be showered upon you from the Lord.

To meditate: “Though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich” (II Corinthians 8:9).
