those who bless!

“I will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you (Genesis 12:3).

Always bless the people of God. When Balaam came to curse the children of Israel, God’s fury fell upon him. God warned Balaam with a drawn sword. That is why Balaam told the king Balak “I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot change it” (Numbers 23:20). You and I have received God’s command to bless others.

With the intention to commit evil against Jacob who was his own son in law, Laban travelled seven days along with his brothers and found him in the mount Gilead. Then God came to Laban in a dream at night and said to him, “Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad” (Genesis 31:24). Yes, God will never permit anyone to commit evil against you. Without reason, the curse sent to you will not materialise.

So, do not be dismayed whether the wicked people will commit evil against you or the enemies will cunningly dig a pit behind you. Those who dug the pit will themselves fall into it and they cannot do any evil against you. Will not God advocate and fight for you? So, do not be afraid. God will turn the bad into good.

Joseph was pushed into the horrible pit by his own brothers. Then he was pulled out of it and was sold to the Ishmaelites proceeding to Egypt. But God stood in support of Joseph and made all those who conspired against him to stand with folded hands before Joseph. God made them prostrate down to revere him. God will do the same thing to those who oppose you.

That is why Joseph made his brothers stay with him, provided them food and dress. Further, he also gave them the fertile city of Goshen for their cattle to graze. Joseph said to them “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” Then he reassured them and spoke to them kindly” (Genesis 50:20, 21).

Dear children of God, do not show your anger or hatred over those who intend to do evil against you. Wholeheartedly forgive them as Christ forgave you.

To meditate: “…that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous” (Mathew 5:45)
