“Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” (John 11:40).
The word ‘Glory’ has been translated as ‘majesty’ in certain languages. In Arabic it is ‘kaboth’, in Malayalam it is ‘tejaz’ and in Hebrews, it is ‘Shekkinah.’ Proclaim, “My God is the Lord of glory. He will fill me with His glory. My eyes will witness the glorious deeds He does.”
The own sister of Lazarus lamented “Lazarus has died. He has been buried too. Four days have gone by and so it will stench.” But God raised Lazarus from death saying “you will see the glory of God if you believe” (John 11:40).
Believe in God. Strongly believe that He will do wonders for you. Pharaoh and his troupes were chasing the Israelites. What did God do? He split the Red Sea into two and pushed Pharaoh and his army into it. When the eyes of the Israelites witnessed this their hearts rejoiced. They sang “For, He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea” (Exodus 15:1).
Which enemy keeps following you today? Which curses have caught hold of your family? Look up to God with faith. He will definitely turn your sorrow into Joy. The Palmist says “Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in You; let such as love Your salvation say continually, “The Lord be magnified” (Psalm 40:16).
When Jesus went to a wedding, He turned the shortage into plenty there. He turned water into wine there. They witnessed the glorious deed of God. “This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him” (John 2:11).
The cry of the soul of Moses the man of God was “Please, show me your glory” (Exodus 33:18). Moses the devotee was longing to witness the glory of God, to enjoy it and to be filled by it.
“The fear of the wicked will come upon him and the desire of the righteous will be granted” (Proverbs 10:24). God recognised the wish of the righteous man Moses and enabled him to witness His glory when he was hiding in the split rock (Exodus 33:21, 22). When you believe, He will show His glory to you also.
To meditate: “…..all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Mathew 24:30).
