“My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle and are spent without hope” (Job 7:6).
We have come into the final days of the year. Praise God wholeheartedly for all the good things God did to you. Moreover, utilise these final days to fill yourself with the goodness of the new blessings and promises by cleansing you. I wish you that the New Year is great blessings to you.
Many men of God have left their writings about life. “In the morning they are like grass which grows up: In the morning it flourishes and grows up; in the evening it is cut down and withers” (Psalm 90:5, 6). Jacob the devotee asks, “For what is your life? It is even a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away” (James 4:14).
Lead your life fully aware that we are strangers and pilgrims on this earth which is not eternal. Be cautious to complete all the assignments God within the stipulated time of grace. A Tamil devotee sang, “When we are the heavenly people why should I say ‘my house and my country’?” Another devotee Jim Reaves sang, “The world is not my home. I am just passing through.” What is the report of the warriors of faith in the Scripture? “These all died in faith….. and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth” (Hebrews 11:13).
Abraham always had that feeling. He told that he was a foreigner and visitor among them. (Genesis 23:4). Moses also told the same thing (Exodus 2:22). The report of David was also the same (Psalm 119:19). “For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven” (II Corinthians 5:2). Our times are in the hands of God (Psalm 31:5).
In the life in this world give the first preference to God. Love and exalt Him. “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you” (Mathew 6:33). In chapter 3 of the book of Ecclesiastes around eighteen ‘times’ have been listed out. Yes. Allocate a particular time every day for you to pray. A prayer made earnestly will clear your problems and bring Divine peace to your heart and home.
Similarly, allocate a particular time for you to read the Scripture. It will announce the eternity for you. It will make you a warrior of faith. It will uphold you firmly as a victorious person in God’s presence. In the same way, declare God as your witness to others. Reap the harvest of souls. That will rejoice your heart.
To meditate: “And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home” (Luke 16:9).
