“Now Christ is risen from the dead and has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep” (I Corinthians 15:20).
God recognised Jesus Christ as the firstborn for the reason that He brought God’s Word from the heaven to the earth. The heaven too recognised this. The Scripture says, “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the first fruits, afterwards those who are Christ’s at His coming” (I Corinthians 15:22, 23).
Today, God likes to make us the first fruit spiritually and give us the birthright. Jacob writes in his epistle ‘Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures (James 1:18).’ Yes. Dear children of God, His will is to turn you into first fruit. Jesus became the first fruit as He Resurrected from the dead. Now He is powerfully doing the works in you.
In our family, there are two sons and two daughters. I was the third child and according to the worldly values, I was not the firstborn. But right from the early days, I had a special interest in the Scripture. I memorised a lot of Scripture portions. When God called me to the ministry, He gave me the ministry to write exploring the Scripture.
When my father was about to die, God did not indicate anything about that death to any of the children. But he informed this news to me through a dream and thus I rushed to my native village to see him. He blessed me wholeheartedly during his last breath. I received the worldly birthright also. I received the blessings of God also.
For you and I to turn into first fruit he says: “Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever” (I Peter 1:23). These verses are incorruptible seeds and so read them with a liking. If you meditate the Scripture day and night it will lead you into a blessed experience. “Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin because he has been born of God” (I John 3:9). The seed which is the Word of God will turn you into first fruit.
Dear children of God, when you are living in the world, let it not be an aimless one. Proclaim with faith “During the coming of God, I will be looking like a first fruit. I will show importance to the Word of God and listen to it. The Holy Spirit is powerfully doing works within me to transform me into first fruit.”
To meditate: “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29).
