“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9).

During many times, we do not understand the ways of God. We always prefer a plain and not the ups and downs. We are in an urgency to see that everything that happens is good and we should achieve what all we like. But the ways of God are wonderful. We read in the Scripture “The Lord has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm” (Nahum 1:3). Yes. Truly the ways of God are wonderful.

During my youth days, my parents chose a girl for me to marry. Parents of both the sides liked the proposal and preferred to go ahead. But at the neck of the time, the father of the girl stopped the proceedings citing a bad dream he had come across. It was a great disappointment to my parents. Unaware of what had happened and what dream he had come across we were puzzled. Thirty years crossed by.

After thirty years, one day she visited my office fortuitously and left her diary accidentally while leaving. The diary showed what a bad life she was leading, how crazy she was towards cinema and her habit of roaming about with various youth.

Only then I understood how God has saved me from that marriage. If I had married her, I would have lost my life and my ministry also would also have ruined. I raised thousands of praises to God. The Bible says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12, 16:25).

Our knowledge is less and our level of understanding is also low. But the knowledge of God is immeasurable. With His overwhelming wisdom, He is doing wonderful things. We know only the present. But God knows the future also. Man can look at the face alone but God looks into the heart. In some cases, the marriage proposal may proceed merrily between both sides and even go to the extent of engagement. But all of a sudden for some reason or other the proposal will break and the parents of the bride will writhe in sorrow. They will be grieved over why such a shameful thing happened to them.

Dear children of God know that all things work together for good to those who love God. So, do not be in haste. God will definitely reveal the reason for stopping the marriage.

To meditate “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory” (I Corinthians 2:7).
