“He said, ‘Come with me, and see my zeal for the Lord.’ So they had him ride in his chariot” (II Kings 10:16)
One kind of the prayers is the prayer of zeal. It has been written about different zeal in the Scripture. The zeal of the Lord is there; the great zeal is there; the zeal in Spirit is there; zealous toward God is there.
But if you show zeal in prayer you will harvest numerous souls. You will break the shackles. So, never be lacking in prayer. Being neither hot nor cold, do not get perplexed. While praying pray with zeal until you receive the answer.
Look at satan who is your enemy. Though he has been defeated by several saints and prayer warriors and even after his head is crushed in Calvary, he still resists with zeal with the tail he has. He will say with zeal “I will not leave without taking his life. At any cost, he has to be induced to commit sin.” He will fight bringing forth the world, flesh and satan. He will bring in the lusts and test.
Against Job, satan touched his body in the presence of God. With zeal, he challenged God that Job will definitely be made to deny Him. Even today he keeps on accusing the saints day and night with zeal.
At the same time, the zeal of God is also there. In the Scripture, it has been written at twelve instances about the zeal of God. (II Kings 19:31, Isaiah 9:7, 26:11, 37:32, 42:13, 59:17, 63:15, Ezekiel 5:13, 39:26, Joel 2:18, Zachariah 1:14, 8:2). “Because zeal for your house has eaten me up and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me” (Psalm 69:9). It has been said vide James 4:5 “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”.
In America there was there was a girl by name Berry Bugstad and she was a disabled person by birth. She had congenital hunchback and shrunken limbs and legs. Thus she was in a pathetic condition. When she was saved and when she accepted Jesus as her God, she prayed passionately, “Father, will you not heal me with zeal?”
The Spirit of God told her, “I will heal you at 9 O’clock in the morning on a particular day and date.” Immediately the girl asked her mother to stitch a dress suitable for a 12-year-old girl. She invited all her relatives also to her home to be present on that particular day. Right on the appointed hour, the power of God descended on the girl and God straightened her bent back. He also made the legs and hands normal and in a second the girl attained the matching growth for her age of twelve.
To meditate: “For Zion’s sake I will not hold my peace and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness and her salvation as a lamp that burns” (Isaiah 62:1).
