“Elijah was a man with a nature like ours and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months” (James 5:17).
‘Elijah’ is the name of the Revival. It is the name of the reverence. It is the name of the chariot which burned with flames for God. It urges US to pray and do big things for God. Prayer is the important reason for the great revival raised through Elijah.
He who prayed earnestly brought numerous miracles. Nothing is equivalent to prayer. One who prays protects his holiness. One who prays destroys the authority of the enemy. Nobody could stand against one who prays.
Many value Elijah as a superman. But, the Scripture describes him as ‘a man who faced all troubles like us. Depressions, tests and struggles similar to us occurred to him. But he prayed earnestly. As he prayed fervently, the miracles kept on happening.
Bro. D. G. S. Dhinakaran used to pray with compassion. Bro. Ezekiah Francis used to pray with tears. Bro. Mohan C. Lazarus will strive in his prayers. Sis.Yagammal will pray day and night without fatigue. A great revival has been created in India today because of these prayer warriors.
Elijah and Elisa were the horses and chariots of fire to the Israelites. Both were the prayer warriors who prayed earnestly. At a time when the idol worship of Baal was mostly practised, they brought in a great thrust among the Israelites. They were the ones to drive out the idol worship practised in Israel. They struck and cut 850 Baal prophets to death.
Prior to the first coming of Jesus Christ, God with the strength and Spirit of Elijah raised John the Baptist (Mathew 11:14, Mathew 17:10-12). Similar to this God will raise thousands of Elijahs prior to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord” (Malachi 4:5).
Just like Enoch, Elijah was also taken up without experiencing death. Both his coming into the world and his departure from the earth were miraculous. Dear children of God, one who prays walks with God. The man who prays will be seen during the Coming of God. However huge may the problems in your life be, present yourself like Elijah and pray earnestly. Then the end will be glorious.
To meditate: “Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them and you will have them” (Mark 11:24).
