the way of an eagle!

“The way of an eagle in the air, the way of a serpent on a rock, the way of a ship in the midst of the sea and the way of a man with a virgin” (Proverbs 30:19).

Solomon the wise points out four things which according to him are wonderful and which he is unable to understand. One among the four is ‘the way of an eagle in the air.’
The eagle is not in possession of any modern invention like the compass. It will not know in which direction it flies, at what height it flies and in what speed it flies. At whatever great height it may be flying, even from that great height, it is able to identify its prey like even the tiny rats on the ground and in no time it comes down to peck them. God explains many things not understandable to us by citing the eagle.

A philosophical poet sings: “Man saw the bird and thus created the plane.’ When a big aircraft flies it actually resembles an eagle flying spreading its wings. I have a disability in my leg but God has taken me to 63 nations. Whenever I am inside a plane I always feel as though I am sitting in the wings of God. God protects you just like a bird which flies, protects you. You stay protected as He carries you and guides you. God alone carries and then guides you. The other gods will not stay with you.

The special quality for an eagle is to fly at great speed. It can fly hours together even without moving its wings. To call ‘eagle’ is meant for the great believers. “The L:ord will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand” (Deuteronomy 28:50).

Here God says “as swift as the eagle flies” about its speed. Yes. An Eagle will fly faster than all other birds. The believer of God will also be very fast. There is a period for him to walk but he will not faint. There is a time for him to run but he will not be weary. He has the experience of running high similar to the eagle. He will be like a lightning. In the sight of the world, he could not be understood and will be amazing.

We see this experience in John the Apostle. Though he had been physically imprisoned in the island of Patmos, when he came into the Spirit, was seen before the Throne of God in the heaven in a moment. When Ezekiel came into Spirit, he was taken by God to a valley full of bones. Dear children of God, God wants you to mount up with wings like eagles in the heavenly places.

To meditate: “Before I was even aware, my soul had made me as the chariots of my noble people” (Song of Solomon 6:12).
