“The ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in me” (John 14:30).
When a sower sows the seeds the birds of the air come and devour the same and thus wasting the efforts. Similarly, satan comes like the birds of the sky and picks up all the seeds of Scripture thus preventing them from giving out the sprouts and grow. At the time of death, satan the ruler of the world may arrive like a police officer and test you. When we travel from one nation to other the customs officials check the bags and baggage.
Similarly, satan also will check your box which is your life in the world to ensure all the worldly things like time for the world, worldly wisdom, worldly fellowship and relationship with worldly lusts are there to ruin you. Jesus Christ boldly said “the ruler of this world is coming and he has nothing in me. My life is an open epistle”. He was blameless and He knew no sin. He boldly asked, “Which of you convicts me of sin?”. He protected Himself with a life which was blameless and had no strain of the world.
Two things are always facing you. One is your death and the other is the Coming of Christ. Both these things remain secrets which man cannot understand and foresee when they will happen. During that time when satan comes to you to test, can you boldly say to him that you do not possess any of such things mentioned above?
When Martin Luther was about to breath last, satan came and showed Martin Luther the list of sins committed by him. Many awkward and incredible sins found a place in that list. Martin Luther through a red ink bottle over the list and wrote: “The blood of Jesus Christ has cleansed me from all sin” at the bottom.
One may be a very rich man or one may be highly educated or one may possess unlimited wisdom but in spite of all these things, no one knows when the death will occur. An old Tamil saying goes this way “Death may occur in six years or it may occur at the age of one hundred years.” At the time of death, the life goes out through the nose. The heart beats stop. The blood freezes. No part of the body functions. Both the life and soul of the dead person leaves the body. At that time, the spirit returns to God who had sent it and the soul moves towards the eternity.
Dear children of God, the length of life in the world may be seventy or eighty years. But if you had sown your life as a seed in Christ and if you have the ‘born again’ experience you can face the eternity joyously. You can go for a victory march holding the hands of God who proclaimed “I am He who lives and was dead and behold, I am alive forevermore”.
To meditate: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die” (John 11:25, 26).
