seeds of scripture!

“….having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever” (I Peter 1:23)

There is an ancient story. One person brought two rose garlands to test the Wisdom of Solomon. Standing far away he said “Dear king, one among these two garlands is made of natural rose flowers and the other is an artificial one. Making use of your wisdom, can you identify which is natural and which is artificial?”

The king looked at both the garlands sharply. Both were very similar in appearance. After a pause, the king said “Within a few seconds of having a glimpse of the garlands, I found a few bees flying around the garland on your right hand in search of nectar. The natural flowers alone have fragrance and nectar. The artificial flower will not have the smell and the artificial seed will not have the life.” The man was astonished.

Similar to the Bible other books of philosophical wisdom are also printed. The paper and the ink may be the same. But the Scripture is the seeds of life, possessing the fragrance of life. That is how it attracts the souls like the bees. It provides the glorious Salvation. Those words help us to identify Jesus Christ as our Saviour. Other books may have wisdom and knowledge. They may show the good path and teach good moral principles. But they have no life in them. So, dear children of God may you shine like lights in the world holding fast the Word of life (Philippians 2:15, 16).

A glorious seed has been sowed into you. That seed is Christ who is alive. “God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). He takes form within you and is found in the soul (inner man). John the Apostle writes “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

Jesus Christ is a seed. In the book of Genesis, we read ‘I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her Seed’ (Genesis 3:15). He is filled with Resurrection and life which could crush the head of satan. That seed is within you. The Holy Spirit filled with power and glory has been poured into you. We have received that seed in glorious earthen vessels (II Corinthians 4:7).

Dear children of God do not be apathetic over the Holy seed within you. You were born of God. Bible says “Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin because he has been born of God” (I John 3:9).

To meditate: “we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (I John 3:2).
