“I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are your works and that my soul knows very well” (Psalm 139:14).
The Psalmist thought of God’s love of creation and wondered. He understood that ‘it was a wonderful love.’ “My frame was not hidden from you, when I was made in secret and skilfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them” (Psalm 139:15, 16).
Once, a teacher asked the children of the school to list out the wonders of the world. The children wrote all they knew and the Taj Mahal in India, the great wall of China, the Pyramids of Egypt, the Panama Canal, the Hanging Garden built by Nebuchadnezzar and the magnificent Peter’s Church in Tome were a few of their choice.
But one girl replied “Teacher, I would like to write the seven wonders which God created within me. The first is the wonder of possessing the feeling through touching. I am overjoyed when my mother touches me with love. I get a wonderful feeling when I touch the tender flowers and I thank God for that. The second wonder in me is looking through the eyes. I would have suffered a lot if I had not these eyes.
Thirdly it is a big wonder that I am able to hear through my ears. I am able to know the smell of the fruits and the flowers and it is wonderful. Next wonder is my tongue and I am able to taste everything on it. And in this way, I can list out seven seventies of wonders Which God has created within me. God graciously gave me those things. Is it not a wonder of the world that I love God and He loves me immeasurably?
When you have received so much of love from God, is it not a necessity for you to reciprocate in a big way? Resolve to show love on Him with all the soul, all the strength and all the heart. Not only that. Abide in God’s love. Day after day, you have to grow in the divine love.
“To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever” (Revelation 1:6). Christianity is the religion of love. It is not a religion which tastes the love of God but it is the one to reveal His love always.
To meditate: “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love” (I John 4:8).
