“Am I a God near at hand,” says the Lord, “And not a God afar off? “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord” (Jeremiah 23:23, 24).
The love of God is of two types. On one side He is the Son of God and on the other, He is the son of man. As a Son of God, He created the mankind and the entire universe. At the same time, staying as a Son of man He poured His blood on the Cross and created Redemption for us; Further, He created Salvation and blessed us breaking the curses.
A Police officer went to the beach for a walk with his wife and children. He was very calm and composed and was conversing with love with his family members. But suddenly on seeing a particular man nearby, his face turned harsh and was filled with anger and hatred. He warned the man to go away with shouts of anger. Once the man disappeared, the police officer told his wife that he was a thief, burglar and a murderer too. On seeing the thief, he recognised him and if he had been careless, he would have even taken away their child.
Indeed, Christ is a gentle lamb but when satan comes and walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour, He turns into the lion of the tribe of Judah. One who is full of love changes into Lord of hosts and becomes Almighty when the need to protect us arises. Because, there is a battle for us against satan who is the spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Once, a person brought a consignment of soaps from abroad. When the customs official made a search of his belongings it was noticed that he had concealed gold biscuits within the soaps. The outward appearance looked like soap but within it was gold bar. It is similar to this that the Son of God was within the son of man. The divine love overflowed in Christ and this made him to become a son of God. That love passes knowledge and it is wonderful.
When a man is saved, the physical appearance of the body remains to resemble a human one as always but huge changes take place within him. All the divine perfections begin to dwell in him. The body belongs to the earth but the spirit and the soul are pertained to the heaven. The body may wither away in a death but the spirit and the soul inherit the eternity. What a wonder it is!
Dear children of God, He died for you, gave His love for you and through this, He has given you the hope of Resurrection. One day God looked at Abraham and said “lift your eyes and see. Your descendants will multiply as the stars of heaven”. Jesus who belonged to the heaven came to earth with the purpose of transforming those belonging to earth as one belonging to heaven. Think of the greatness of His love!
To meditate: “Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” (II Corinthians 8:9).
