“….as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you” (Isaiah 62:5).
“For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels” (Isaiah 61:10).
Eve was created with the rib bone of Adam and was made his wife. (Genesis 2:22). Similarly, the rib of Jesus was pierced and with the blood that poured out, the congregation of the bride was created. “…..the church of God which He purchased with His own blood” (Acts 20:28).
While discussing the relationship between a husband and wife, Paul the Apostle made a mention about the congregation of the bride also. “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:25-27).
Paul the Apostle indicates “For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ” (II Corinthians 11:2). “Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband” (Revelation 21:2). Time is running out. The Second Coming of Jesus the loving bridegroom is very near. Let us get geared up to meet him.
“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” “And to her, it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints” (Revelation 19:7, 8).
When the first book of Genesis to the last book of Revelation of the Scripture is read, we can see God extending love like a Creator, Father, Mother, Teacher, Brother and a Friend. God happily comes closer to you only when you are living closer to Him. But, of all other things, there is one special love. In the book of Song of Solomon, we see that again and again God is described as ‘the loving friend’ (Song of Solomon 3:1-4). Isaiah says “The desire of our soul is for your name and for the remembrance of you” (Isaiah 26:8). “This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church” (Ephesians 5:32).
To meditate: “When I found the one I love. I held him and would not let him go,
Until I had brought him to the house of my mother and into the chamber of her who conceived me” (Song of Solomon 3:4).
