“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you” (Isaiah 26:3).
Once, there was a drawing competition over the title “Perfect Peace.” In it, one artist came out with a drawing in which he had drawn greenish hills, several kinds of red coloured flowers and a lake with blue coloured water. But, the other artist had drawn a rock in the midst of sea with high tides. He had also drawn a bird sitting on the rock and singing sweetly. In spite of the dreadful atmosphere of roaring waves and lightning, the bird was sitting and singing with perfect peace unperturbed by the surroundings. It was this drawing which won the prize.
Those who place their faith in God will be coolly singing with perfect peace even when the atmosphere and the surroundings are in a hurly-burly state. Our God is the author of peace (I Corinthians 14:33). He rebukes the sea and calms down the storm. He drives away the wild beasts so that they do not cause damages. He helps by turning your enemies into friends. He has given you the perfect peace.
What is it you have to do? You should learn to rest by fully relying on Him and His grace and placing all your burdens on Him rather than worrying over the problems. Then the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will fill your heart.
Dear children of God what God wishes is that you should live with peace. His will is that you should live happily in Christ. Did Jesus not say “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me” (John 14:1)?
Not only that. The Prince of peace has sacrificed Himself to create peace in you. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him (Isaiah 53:5). Did He not wear a crown of thorns on His head for giving peace to you? He poured out even the last drop of His blood for your sake so that you should be with peace. He crushed the power which spoils your peace on the Cross. He willed to forgive the sins which plague the conscience. He broke the back of the curse and redeemed you. He is the Lord of peace. He is the Prince of peace.
Dear children of God, protect your peace always. We read in Psalm 119:165 that there will be great peace to those who love His truth and abide by the same. May the Lord of peace Himself fill your Spirit, Soul and Body with Divine Peace!
To meditate: “your peace would have been like a river and your righteousness like the waves of the sea” (Isaiah 48:18).
