“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord” (Genesis 6:8).
We meet several kinds of eyes in the world. Eyes are the entrances of the heart. The eyes of a man will easily reveal what sort of man he is. Eyes of the drunkard are there. That will be filled with liquor. Eyes of the hot-tempered man are there. Their eyes will be fiery. Eyes of the hoodlum are there, filled with sanguinary. Eye of irritation is there, spitting hatred. Further, there are lot of evil eyes in the world. But God is only one to possess eyes of grace.
In the Scripture, we find many instances of saints receiving grace from the eyes of God. David found favour in the eyes of the Lord. (II Samuel 15:25). You may not receive grace from the eyes of men. You may not get mercy and support from men. But the eyes of God possess immeasurable grace.
The graceful eyes of God came in search of Adam to the Eden Garden where he was hiding. Jonah thought of running invisible to the eyes of God. So, he boarded the ship to flee to Tarshish though God had commanded him to proceed to Nineveh. He lied down in the lower deck of the ship and that prophet did not realise that there is nothing invisible to the eyes of God. A man may fly high like an eagle and he may build his nest amongst the stars, but the eyes of God never fail to notice him.
“For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord and He ponders all his paths“ (Proverbs 5:21). “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good“(Proverbs 15:3). God’s gracious eyes of God looked at the leper with compassion and healed him (Mathew 8:1-3). He looked with compassion at the multitude that was like helpless sheep without a shepherd and did miracles (Mathew 14:14).
Dear children of God, let your eyes constantly look at God with love. “Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, until He has mercy on us“ (Psalm 123:2)
Since you have found favour with the eyes of God, protect your life with holiness. Let your eyes be holy. Let every part of your body be holy. Dispose of all the worldly affections, worldly love and the lusts from your eyes. Dedicate your eyes to God so that delusions are not seen by them.
To meditate: “And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires” (Galatians 5:24).
