‘God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land” (Psalm 68:6).
God never tolerates and keeps silent when satan binds you and prevents you from rising. He delivers all those who are bound. What was the purpose of God coming to earth? “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;” (Isaiah 61:1)
No man comes forward to bind himself with willingness and he avoids getting trapped too. Some people are bound by their sins and iniquities.: some are bound by the government through punishments. Some are being arrested by the police and are taken with their hands and legs chained.
We read about a man named ‘Simon’ in the book of ‘Acts’. He was a one to get baptised with faith. He was with Philip and was wondering over the miracles happening through him. But he had a false hope that the anointment of Holy Spirit could be purchased with money. ‘Craze over money’ was the binding within him. Peter, the Apostle told him, “For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.” (Acts 8:23)
When I had visited a village, I saw a twelve-year-old boy being tied to a tree near a grocery shop and receiving terrible beatings. I was unable to bear the boy’s plight. The owner of the grocery shop said, “This boy is working in my grocery shop and he has been stealing the jaggery from the shop and selling it somewhere. Today he was caught while stealing. He has been tied to the tree so that this becomes a lesson to others.
Some people are bound by their indiscretion and audacious behaviour. Herod imprisoned Peter and bound him with two chains and was made to stand in between two soldiers. This punishment was accorded to Peter for the reason that he preached Gospel. Similarly, Paul the Apostle said, “for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the Word of God is not chained.” (II Timothy 2:9).
Dear children of God, whatever bindings you may have, but be very clear over one thing. Jesus Christ was bound and handed over to Herod for your sake.(Mathew 27:2). So, He very well knows what a binding is. It is He who will relieve you from all these bounds. When the power of God descends on you, the Holy Fire will burn all the bindings with which you have been bound, just like a thread being burnt.
To meditate: “And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”(John 11:44)
