“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19).
When I was saved during my youth days, I saw a terrible and wicked spirit within a young man. It had made him a slave and held him under its total control. It occupied his mind and convulsed him like a street dog.
He approached me for relief. At that time I did not know how to cast a demon and how to set a person free from such clutches. So I consulted a pastor and sought his advice over the casting of the demon. He pointed out the verse vide Luke 10:19 to me. After repeated reading of this verse, a faith came into me. I went through the verse over and over and my heart absorbed the power just as a sponge absorbs water.
On the next day when the demon was opposed with this verse the demon ran away. When satan encroaches your mind and thought and tries to make you a slave take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; (Ephesians 6:17). “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12).
In the book of Revelation, we read “He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength (Rev 1:16). The two-edged sword is nothing but the Scripture. It possesses the spirit, life, power and divinity. When Jesus Christ was fasting and praying for forty days, satan brought numerous temptations. But Jesus thwarted his efforts by saying the scripture verse ‘It is written again’.
Dear children of God, follow the Scripture written by God in your life. Set your life in accordance to the Scripture. When you oppose satan making use of God’s Scripture as your weapon, you will definitely win over him.
Once when I was ministering in Andhra, I had to oppose a terrible magician. God gave me a scripture verse and guided me to resist him holding it. That sword of Spirit was “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (I John 4:4).
I prayed “Who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. He is Almighty. He is the Governor of the armies of Israel. You will be shattered if you oppose Him. On whosoever be that chief corner stone falls, his condition will be pitiable.” The victory was mine.
To meditate: “You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot” (Psalm 91:13)
