“Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;” (II Peter 3:14)
One day, in the evening hours, some tourists were walking along the bank of river Ganges. On the way there was a crematorium and people were carrying the body of a ten year old boy for cremation. The mother of the boy was sobbing uncontrollably and she was shouting “Oh my son, you have gone. You are going to be burnt to ashes. I cannot see you anymore.” No one was able to console her. She was not aware of the life after death and so she did not believe that she could meet him again.
The tourists would have gone further for a Kilometre. There a small boy of a Christian family who was also around ten years of age had died and his parents assembled in the grave yard for burial. Just before the closing of the coffin the mother of the boy went closer to the face of the boy and said “dear son I love you so much and it is because of this my eyes are with tears. Since I have opened my heart to Jesus I believe that I will meet you during His coming. I will meet you and Christ face to face very soon.” “And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” (I John 3:3).
In today’s Christian world many preachers go for Prosperity theology and their total concentration is on money and wealth. They say that if one accepts Jesus as his Saviour, he will be blessed with a bike instead of the present bicycle. They also say that instead of one house such people will be able to acquire ten houses.
Many people hide the fact that the Lord’s coming and time of meeting him is fast approaching. These preachers preach the doctrine falsely making the people believe that they can live as they like and the Lord’s mercy will protect at any cost. They say that with that mercy of God will forgive the sins of the past and the sins of the future too. Though God has showed a narrow path to heaven these modern preachers show a broad route to reach heaven easily. They have hidden the sufferings of Christ and His blood too.
But you should know that only the path of the cross will lead you to the throne. The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Move forward with purity to meet God face to face
To meditate: “Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;” (II Peter 3:14).
