violence of fire!

“….quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword” (Hebrews 11:34).

There is no power which will not obey faith. Even nations obey faith. Faith can shut the mouth of the lion. Not only that. Faith has governance and power over fire. Even the fire could not win over a person who has faith.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego possessed such faith. So they leaned on faith and refused to worship the golden idol of the king. “If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king” (Daniel 3:17).

They put down the flames of the fire with faith. The flames were actually like the petals of the flower to them. Apart from this, their faith made the Son of God to walk on the fire. They were able to walk with Jesus in the midst of the fire with liberation. “….these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them (Daniel 3:27).

What was the promise of God? “When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you” (Isaiah 43:2). They not only quenched the violence of fire but escaped the edge of the sword. Edge of the sword is also similar to fire. The faith has the strength to stop a ready positioned sword from cutting. Faith has the power to tie down the hands which hold the sword ready to cut.

‘The child who could speak well will escape’ (வாய் உள்ள பிள்ளை பிழைக்கும்) is an old saying in Tamil. The children of God who speak the words of faith will escape to the sword. Yes. The sword may belong to the outsiders or to the judgement but your faith will help you to escape. If the weapon of the enemy is sword your faith will become a shield for you to defend. Keep up your shield of faith. The shield is strong and it will protect. Arrows and spears could not pierce through the shield.

So, Paul advises: “above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one (Ephesians 6:16). Martin Luther is a saint who escaped to the sword holding the shield of faith. Religious leaders and the government took all out efforts to kill him.

But do you know what shield of faith he was holding? It is the verse vide Romans 1:17 which says “The just shall live by faith.” Dear children of God, the faith will protect you from all evil powers of the darkness.

To meditate: “And the hand of our God was upon us, and He delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambush along the road. (Ezra 8:31).
