“Receive my instruction, and not silver and knowledge rather than choice gold;” (Proverbs 8:10).
When you move forward in this world have a feeling that you are in a running race. A special wisdom is essential for a man who participates in a race. He has to forget those things which are behind and reach forward to those things which are ahead. He has to avoid carrying all things which are heavy and continue to run.
Generally the first two persons who complete the distance are identified as the winners and are awarded with prizes. They train for months together. Keep their body under control. They avoid excess food and fat contents. Similar to this, in our spiritual run we have to take some precautions. Here we have to run towards the mission with wisdom and also self-control.
In this Spiritual run, there is nothing life first and second but all those who complete the spiritual run successfully will be awarded with prizes from God. You have to be steady and strong till the end. You have to complete the run successfully. Bible gives you an account of the model lives of many saints. It shows you the footsteps of many Christians who have completed the run successfully before your life span.
The participants of a race should run in the lanes earmarked for them. They cannot move out of the lane or encroach upon the lanes earmarked for others. If they are caught committing any of these violations they will be debarred. God also has fixed a restriction for your run. Certain restrictions which are righteous in nature have been laid by Him. When you lean on your right side or left side, He guides you to move on the right path. When you do not follow God’s instructions during the rum you will be treated as a loser.
Paul the Apostle who completed the run successfully says “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness” (II Timothy 4:7-8). “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,” (Hebrews 12:1).
There are three factors constantly in front of you. First is the coming of Christ. Second is the eternity and the third is the Kingdom of Heaven. So keep running in the path of righteousness tirelessly.
To meditate: “He who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still. And behold, I am coming quickly.” (Revelation 22:11-12)
