“My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor detest His correction;” (Pro 3:11).
First of all do not get discouraged while praying. Secondly do not get discouraged while doing good things. Thirdly do not get discouraged at the time of tribulation. Fourthly do not get discouraged while being rebuked. God’s rebuke, chasten and the cane will turn into benefits. In the midst of the chastening you can find God’s love.
Read the Scripture portion Hebrews 12:5-11 and meditate. “And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.” If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?
For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. (Hebrews 12:5-11).
Meditate a little deeper. Why should God chasten you? His main aim is to transform you and make you righteous. That will give you the benefit of peace to you. When David sinned with Bathsheba God sent his prophet Nathan and condemned him. Curses came on David. Even then David repented for his sin and wholeheartedly cried to God and sought his mercy. He received God’s mercy.
Dear children of God do not get discouraged when being chastened by God When God makes you realise your sins, humble yourself and repent with tears and receive his mercy. As David said “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24).
To meditate: “Poverty and shame will come to him who disdains correction, but he who regards a rebuke will be honoured. (Pro 13:18).
