“Surely, in vain the net is spread In the sight of any bird; “ (Pro 1:17).
When God gave wisdom to King Solomon He spoke of tress, animals, birds, creeping things and fish (I Kings 4:33). If a bird is to be caught, the net has to be laid in its absence and if the net is laid before its eyes, the bird understands the approaching danger and thus escapes. Satan is also never lays his trap directly before you. He will do it surreptitiously and tempts you with lusts. Some people do not realise that those are the traps of satan and fall into them and suffer greatly.
There is a story of the olden days. A hunter had been watching a kit of pigeons assembling in a place at a particular hour. One day with a wish to catch them, he spread a net in the place where they were about to land and he had spread some grains too on the net to attract the birds. The birds which were not aware of the trap fell into it. The birds together thought of a plan to escape. So, before the arrival of the hunter they gathered their strength together and flew carrying the net on them. They approached a rat which released the birds from the net.
There is an old Tamil song which says “Living with unity brings goodness and evil things happen when hatred is developed.” When children of God pray single minded, it is easy to overcome satan’s power and his tests. When one is caught in satan’s net, others have to pray with burden for him and lift him from the slide. “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! For there the LORD commanded the blessing–Life forevermore.” (Psalm 133:1, 3).
You belong to God’s home. You are the sheep and He is the shepherd. Jesus Christ is your eldest brother. He is more compassionate and affectionate than your co-born brothers. He was not ashamed to call you brethren (Hebrews 2:11). Only those who do the will of God are the brothers and sisters of God. Only those have been redeemed through His blood are His brothers and sisters (Mathew 12:50). They are the general assembly and the church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven (Hebrews 12:23). The Lord added to the Church those who were being saved (Act 2:47).
“…… not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.” (Hebrews 10:25). ‘Let us pray together. Let us trample on satan. Let us inherit the country.’ If single mindedness and fellowship of love are with children of God, they can do big things for God. Children of God can escape from all the traps and temptations of satan.
To meditate: “Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped”. (Psalm 124:7).
