“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27).
Look at our everlasting God! Look at His everlasting arms! There is no one in the world to provide refuge and support as the Lord provides you. Some people choose politicians and officials for obtaining refuge. But as time pass by people understand that such refuges do not last long. At the time of sickness many people go after the doctors and at the time of disputes they search for the best advocate. But you should know that the eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Moses found a rock to be his refuge. It was a rock of wisdom. It was a rock of eternity. It had a cleft in it. God put him in the cleft of the rock and covered him with his everlasting arms (Exodus 33:22). At that time, Moses not only experienced the greatness of the refuge but also he visualised a part of God’s glory. He writes “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust” (Psalm 91:1, 2).
David did not rely upon his self – strength, warriors, horses or chariots as his refuge. He was not proud too over these things. He said, “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock (Psalm 27:5). “Be my strong refuge, to which I may resort continually; you have given the commandment to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress Psalm 71:3).
Dear children of God, may you look with your eyes of faithfulness how our eternal God has covered you with His glorious wings. What a security? David again mentions “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling (Psalm 46:1-3).
The refuge of God is not only for you but it is definitely there for every member of your family. Solomon says “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge (Proverbs 14:26).
To meditate: “For You have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall” (Isaiah 25:4).
