“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105).
God lights your lamp. Every day when you worship God and when you go to Church and worship Him along with the children of God the lamp burns more brightly. It gives you more light to your life when you practise the scripture in your life. David calls us to walk in the light of the Scripture. He points out – “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).
God is Spirit and the Scripture is also Spirit. Jesus said “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life “(John 6:63). Hence it will indeed provide light to your spiritual life. “The entrance of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple” (Psalm 119:130). When you read the Scripture and meditate them persistently the light of the lamp gets increased.
How could the light of the Scripture be kindled with fire? When you use a zero watt bulb the light is less and the brightness goes on increasing as you use bulbs with 15 watt, 60 watt, 100 watt and so on. The 1000 watt bulb gives very bright light. The electricity is one but different bulbs give different brightness. The electricity is the one which burns a zero watt bulb and a 100 watt bulb too. The electricity remains the same.
But the power in the bulb in extracting the electricity and burn with brightness differs. Extracting of electricity differs from bulb to bulb based on the power they possess. Similarly God is one. But the believers shine at different levels and this is based on to what extent they practise the Scripture in their lives. Dear children of God, in your Spirit too God has provided light. He wishes that light to be as bright as that of a sun.
To whatever extent you may wish to shine in this world, that much you will have to study the Bible verses and the promises and meditate them. You have to accept them and practise too. “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day (Proverbs 4:18). Dear children of God, read the Scripture, meditate them and practise them in your life so that you shine like a sun.
To meditate: “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Oh Lord, my strength and my Redeemer” (Psalm 19:14).
