Blood which makes kings!

And they sang a new song, saying: “You ….. have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:9, 10)

A poor woman was living with her many children near the palace of the Queen Victoria. Though this family was financially poor they were joyful and were worshipping the Lord merrily. The queen was watching this.

One day she stopped her chariot in front of the woman’s home and asked her what the reason was for her family members being so happy always. The poor woman replied that Jesus Christ had washed them with His blood and had forgiven all their sins and transgressions. She also said that they were joyfully rejoicing in Him since He was with them always.

Though the queen came forward to help the woman in some way, the woman categorically rejected the offer. The poor woman said that they were satisfied with Jesus and were not in need of money or wealth. But the queen was further insisting the poor woman to accept her help. Al last in order to put the queen’s offer to rest, the poor woman said “Madam, kindly give me an assurance that you will meet me in the heaven in God’s presence and that is enough for me.” That answer made the queen to tremble and she was astonished too. “Yes, with the help of the blood of Jesus I will meet you in the heaven” replied the queen in a stubborn voice.

Yes, it is true that the way to heaven is the blood of Jesus. Jesus said “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” (Revelation 1:18). The covenant Jesus made with His blood is not applicable to this world alone but it is eternal. “Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant” (Hebrews 13:20). “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh” (Hebrews 10:19,20).

The covenant He made in Mount Sinai was written on a tablet of stone. That helped the children of Israel to inherit Canaan. But the covenant made on the Cross of Calvary with the blood of Jesus is an eternal one and it opens the doors of the heaven for us.

To meditate: “and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself by Him whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross” (Colossians 1:20).
