“… and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross (Colossians 1:20)
Peace is one thing which is not easily available in the world. May it be politician or an actor or a billionaire, everyone is suffering for want of peace. Their general outburst is that “Some sorrow is troubling my heart day and night. It is being governed by some unknown fear. I do not know what to do.” Their hearts will be trembling until they come forward to repent for their sins and plead for forgiveness. “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.” (Isaiah 57:21).
The worldly people are running helter shelter in search of peace without knowing the exact way to achieve it. There is no peace in the family. There is no peace in the nation. The news of battles all around trouble our hearts greatly. Once, American President George Bush categorically announced that he would wage a war against terrorism and bring in peace. But the terrorism kept increasing and was never brought down. Waves will always be there until the oceans are there. Similarly terrorism will be there until the existence of satan.
But Jesus Christ descended to the earth to bring in peace here. “The sceptre shall not depart from Judah.” (Genesis 49:10). “And this One shall be peace.” (Micah 5:5). When Jesus was born on earth, the angels rejoiced and praised God saying “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:14). Simeon who was waiting for the consolation of Israel praised God saying “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; (Luke 2:29).
Why did Jesus gave His life on the cross shedding blood? Yes. It is because when His blood falls on you, your sins are washed. Satan moves away. Heavenly light and glory descend on you. When you place your faith on the blood of Jesus and accept the same, the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will descend on you. The peace of God similar to a river with water of life will delight your heart.
When you get washed with the blood of Jesus, the Prince of Peace will protect you from all the storms and turbulences you face in life. The first words Jesus spelt after resurrection was “peace to you.” This peace is the greatest blessing you will receive through the blood of Christ.
To meditate: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).
