“But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out” (John 19:34).
The rib is an important part in a human body. It is a place of love and affection. A man’s heart is surrounded and protected by the ribs. When God wanted to create a life partner to Adam He chose Adam’s ribs for the purpose. He brought in sound sleep to Adam to carry out this. The sleep denotes the bodily death. Jesus also died on the Cross of Calvary. “But when they came to Jesus they saw that He was already dead” (John 19:33).
The soldier, who found Jesus to be dead, did not break His legs but he pierced His side with a spear. All the blood and water which remained in Him began to come out now. Through this He created a bride for us. Bible says “Church of God which He purchased with His own blood” (Acts 20:28). That Church of God is the bride of Christ.
Paul the Apostle discusses the relationship between a husband and wife in detail and in the end he says “This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church” (Ephesians 5:32). Christ remains as the head of the body and the church is the remaining part. The body which is the bride should also be as righteous as the head.
Paul the Apostle writes “For I am jealous for you with Godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ” (II Corinthians 11:2). Every child of God who has been redeemed should lead a pure and blemishless life to reflect the bride of Christ. “He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still” (Revelation 22:11). Not only that, “let us go on to perfection” (Hebrews 6:1).
Dear children of God, Come and stand before the Cross of Calvary every day. Let the blood flowing from the ribs of Jesus may cleanse you and make you righteous. You have been called to receive grace after grace and glory after glory. One day we will have stand together in Mount Zion with Christ the lamb. May the blood of Jesus purify you and make you holistic.
John the Apostle writes “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.” (Revelation 21:3).
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (I John 3:2).
