“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).
A lamp is essential for your legs. A light is definitely necessary for your path. Only then your feet will not stumble and you will be protected from slip and falling. It is the Holy Spirit who blesses with lamp and light and so the lamp and light will guide you in the right path. .
The sun gives us light during day time and shows us where things are, what is in front and how could we avoid the accidents. But during nights, that too at the time of new moon, we are surrounded by total darkness and we do not know what is in front, whether there is any thorn on the path or whether there are any ups and downs in front. During such situations our mind says that atleast a torch light should have been brought to help.
Have you seen the advertisement of Eveready torch light? The scene is portrayed as a dancing cobra is being seen in the light coming from the torch. If that torch had not been carried, the person would have been bitten by the deadly poisonous cobra.
The satanic serpent is more poisonous than the cobra. If you keep the Scripture as the lamp for your feet you can easily identify satan. You can also overcome it through the verses of promise. Dear children of God, is the Bible a lamp for your feet in your journey of life? “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21).
God has taught you the path you have to proceed for the whole of your lifetime. He has promised “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye” (Psalm 32:8). If you go through the verses deeply, the Lord will not only show you the way but He will also reveal His will to you.
Many people will close their eyes and try to keep their finger on any one of the verses to catch hold of the Biblical prophecies. If the verse thus touched is comfortable, they will accept the same. If not they will proceed to search another one. Dear children of God, this is not right. As you open the Bible for reading, prayerfully ask God to speak to you. He will talk to you wonderfully.
To meditate: – “And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts” (II Peter 1:19).
