“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:6).
Jesse was David’s father and he had eight children. Among the three who is to receive the birth right? To whom could the father say that he was always with him? It is none but David. When he was feeding the sheep in the wilderness he chose God as his shepherd. “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1). “I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved (Psalm 16:8).
So he had great confidence in the life of this world and in the eternal life as well. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. “Who have I in heaven but you? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides you” (Psalm 73:25).
A father had three sons. The eldest son told that he wanted to become a software engineer so that he can earn lot of money. The second son told that he did not want to stand before a computer and wanted to become a doctor so that he can serve the mankind. The third son told that he did not wish to stand before a machine and he did not also wish to serve a man who is likely to vanish on a day. His choice was to become a God’s servant and stay before Him for ever.
In whatever job you may be occupied, you can stay with the Lord always. Be confident that the Lord is always with you in your works pot. .Jesus Christ told a parable about the heavenly Kingdom. The seeds which fell on good ground yielded a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. If you lead a life on earth in which you gave 30% of your time to Lord Jesus Christ, you will reach a glorious place in heaven with 30% light. If you want to be 100% closer to God in heaven, you need to give your entire time to him now.
You will stay with the Lord Jesus Christ in heaven for a duration which you give for Him in this world. The place you are going to enjoy in heaven is determined here in this world itself. When you give that 100% of your time to God, He touches you with love and says ‘Son, you are always with me. All that I have is yours’.
To meditate: – “As the Father knows me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep” (John 10:15).
