“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).
Around 30 years ago I undertook my first air travel and it was an experience of ecstasy. Before departure I was noticing the nose part of the plane and its engine. It was very similar to the human mind.
The plane runs on the ground and the nose part raises up and the plane begins to fly. This can be called as ‘upward thinking’. Again when the plane intends to descend the nose part focuses downwards and then the body also comes down. In our life also moving upward or sliding downward depends upon the functioning of our mind. The Bible is the best guide for thinking high. If you want to posses heavenly thoughts you need to attach your mind with Christ. Let Christ fly the plane and be seated with Him and this is the best way to reach heaven.
The Lord says “son, some power is blocking the plane from flying high. Something is pulling it downwards. That is the gravitational force. It pulls even a small stone towards the earth blocking it from going high. This is a power brought by Satan. He fills the man with worldly wishes. What to eat, what to drink, what to wear and how to live are the worldly wishes which pull a person towards the earth from moving up towards the heaven. In addition the lusts of the world fill the heart and the becomes a hell.
A Christian girl who was charming became an actress. Day by day she grew in stature, fame and wealth. Her thought was that she was climbing up and up through a ladder. But rthe Lord showed her a ladder which went down to the fiery hell from the earth. The Lord cautioned her and said “If you do not surrender yourself before me a dreaded disease like cancer is going to attack you. Only a few months have been given to you and hence repent soon”.
In the beginning she thought that such thoughts rose in her accidentally. But the next day the doctor tested her and said that cancer had infected her and it was the beginning stage. Her pastor told her “daughter, you had been thinking that you were moving towards the heaven but the fact is that you are moving towards the hell.” The girl repented for the past with tears and confessed all her sins. Came into the righteousness. Fully surrendered her before the Lord. Later she became a missionary too.
To meditate: – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (II Corinthians 5:17).
